The Perth Mint presents a beautifully crafted 1oz silver proof coloured coin celebrating the Year of the Goat.

According to Chinese tradition, the emperor ordered a great race between the animals to decide the 12 positions of the lunar calendar. Travelling with the monkey and the rooster, the gentle yet steadfast goat led the trio across a wide, rushing river to claim eighth place. Those born in the Year of the Goat (2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every 12th preceding year) are said to be creative, compassionate and quietly resilient.

The coloured reverse portrays a majestic goat standing proudly before towering mountains, with his kid prancing nearby and the mother goat resting beneath young cherry blossoms that signal the arrival of spring. The design includes the Chinese character for 'Goat', the inscription 'GOAT 2027' and The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
